ABOUT
Melissa Proctor
After more than 15 years as a clinician in the mental health field, Melissa has shifted her focus to specifically coaching athletes and parents. Her extensive experience with teens, young adults, and parents combined with her background as a highly competitive athlete, sets her apart from other coaching programs.
With nearly two decades of experience as a master's-level clinician and certification as a Mental Game Performance Coach, Melissa has developed a program that blends her expertise in mental health, mental performance coaching, and child development. Her goal is to help clients build confidence, sharpen their competitive edge, and strengthen their parenting skills.

One of Melissa’s favorite aspects of her work as a mental health therapist is coaching parents—helping them navigate challenges, build stronger connections with their children, and feel more confident in their parenting. Now, through Arena Mindset, she continues that passion by offering parent coaching, equipping parents with practical tools to support their child’s growth both in and out of competition.

Throughout her athletic career, Melissa has competed in a variety of equestrian disciplines, including three-day eventing, breakaway roping, team roping, and reining cow horse. She has personally experienced the confidence of peak performance and the self-doubt of a losing streak. Through it all, she discovered that mindset often trumps raw skill. Inspired by this realization, she founded Arena Mindset to provide athletes and parents with the tools they need to elevate their performance—not just in competition, but in life.
Our Mission
What Sets Us Apart
At Arena Mindset, our mission is to empower athletes, parents, and youth to transform their lives by cultivating Authenticity, Purpose, Resilience, & Grit.

We came to Melissa Proctor for parent coaching during a time of tremendous stress for our family. We have split households, our daughters are with their mother half of the time at our house half time. We were struggling to understand how to support them in the aftermath of a divorce and addition of Hillary as a stepparent. Establishing age-appropriate boundaries and expectations were something we were struggling with, and how to negotiate that rules might be different at their mothers' house. Through our sessions with Melissa we were better able to understand our daughters, how divorce and disjointed parenting affects children and how to instill our values in our children without being permissive or authoritarian in our parenting. Her ability to interpret and explain family systems was different than anyone we have ever worked with and made sense. She was easy to open up to and made understanding parenting clear.
